Toby Stringer has won the Year 6 ‘Young Leaders in Engineering’ Award for his design, based around an idea to generate electricity from a trampoline. This is a fabulous achievement and he has gone through several rounds of judging with a high level of competition. Over 2000 entries were received from pupils across the country who answered the question ‘What would you invent?’ Toby was invited to attend the National Awards Ceremony and Private Exhibition at the University of Central London, where he was presented with his trophy.

Sam Register also received 'Highly Commended' for his project and will be displayed in the Public Exhibition. Although he just missed out on a trophy, the judges thought so highly of his work that they wished to recognise his project. In recognition of his achievement his invention illustration will be on display following the Award ceremony in the University of Central London.

Congratulations to all Year 6 pupils who took part in the Young Leaders in Engineering Competition as part our continued work developing STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths) Our thanks also go to the team of engineers who visited the school earlier in the year to inspire our pupils in this area of Science.
