Felsted is delighted to announce some really impressive IB results in 2017. This year Felsted once again achieved a 100% pass rate while maintaining our three year average of 34 points per candidate.
This score is better than an average score of AAB at A Level and shows how well pupils have performed in these demanding examinations, based on an absolute world standard. In all subjects, over 86% of results were graded at 5 points or above (the maximum is 7) and 45% of all results were graded at 6 points or above (seen as the equivalent of an A grade at A Level).
Felsted’s top scorer was Frederike Bochentin, a full boarder from Germany. A keen tennis player, Frederike has taken advantage of the many opportunities Felsted has to offer, including attending a range of fantastic trips to Bali (Biology), Barcelona (Geography) and New York (Ecomonics). Her results put her in a strong position to pursue a career in Business Management.

The IB is taken by nearly one third of the students at Felsted and a number have achieved world class scores, notably:
Twins Tomisin and Tobiloba Ojuri, from Braintree both have medical ambitions. Tobiloba (Tobi) is heading off to Newcastle University to study Biomedical Science and he is interested in a career in either Surgery or Medical Research. Meanwhile, sister Tomisin (Tomi) hopes to pursue a career as a Doctor and joins her twin brother at Newcastle to study Biomedical Genetics. With their futures looking bright, both twins will spend their summer volunteering in the Felsted International Summer School.

Julius Meisch and Paula Lenze, from Germany, enjoyed great success with the IB. A member of the Academic Society, Julius is hoping to pursue a career in insurance, having already secured work experience in Vienna during his gap year. Meanwhile, Paula will be using her gap year to gain work experience in Law, in the hopes of pursuing this as a future career. As well as a prefect and fellow member of the academic society, Paula is also a keen artist and she hopes to continue this as a hobby alongside her future studies.

Other high achievers include Rouven Ernst and Gloria Guht (from Germany) and Claudia Monfreda, (from Italy) who was a school prefect, and even managed to find the time to run the New York Marathon earlier this year.
The pupils can be incredibly proud of these results, having studied a demanding course through their sixth form years. Their achievements at this stage will set them up for successful university careers, and the IB Philosophy encourages all students to be life-long learners, making a difference to the world that they go out into. This group of young men and women will certainly do that, and I am delighted to be able to recognise their successes.
Mr Chris Townsend, Headmaster.
