Max Malins scored in his first match for England U18 last Sunday. His efforts helped England beat France in a significant 21-5 victory in wet conditions at Castle Park in Doncaster. Max hopes to now feature against Scotland and then in the FIRA Tournament in France over Easter.
Max, who is currently in Year 13 at Felsted School, has been offered a contract for Saracens Academy following his successful captaincy of their Elite Academy U18's squad. This included the recent win at the Academy League Finals, 23-19, over the title holders Northampton Saints, with three other Felsted boys in the team.Max comments; "It was a great honour to represent England for the first time against France, it was made even more exciting by scoring a try. It was a fantastic experience that I hope to have again."
In 2014 Max represented Saracens in the Premiership Sevens, World Club Sevens in Ireland and played for Saracens Senior Academy against their sister Club RCM Timisoara in Bucharest. Max has steadily climbed the ranks since representing Felsted School Rugby 1st XV in Year 11 and played for Felsted in the showpiece Daily Mail Vase Final at Twickenham in 2012, alongside his brother Will.
Director of Felsted Rugby and ex-rugby professional rugby player Andrew Le Chevalier comments: “We are delighted for Max. His performances for Felsted have been inspirational and he leads from the front as the Captain of the First XV. I strongly believe that Max has the potential to reach a very high level in rugby.”
