Felsted student Alex Went, has been selected for the National Age Group Academy Squad (NAGS) at U16 level in Hockey. This selection is more impressive considering Alex is only in Year 10. Alex is only one of seven U15's in the country to be asked to be part of the U16 squad and is the only Essex representative.
Her first act as an England player was an intensive training camp at Lilleshall, a facility used for various elite sports. The centre boasts a Polygrass Europa playing surface that is of Olympic Standard and is an exact replica as that used at the Beijing 2008 and London 2012 Olympics. It is the first of its kind outside Asia.
Alex is part of an initial squad of 34, and has impressed all season thus far, in what is her debut year in the Felsted School First XI. If Alex keeps progressing at this rate,
it will not be long before her first official England match.
