Teams of two from each of the ten Felsted Boarding and Day Houses have been competing over the past few weeks to make it to the final of Felsted Bake Off 2017.
Their final challenge was to make the French desert, ‘Paris-Brest’, a speciality of former Great British Bake Off judge, Mary Berry. With two hours to complete the desert, the kitchen was busy with judges, staff and pupils, all watching the talented finalists and doubtless hoping for a taste of the final bakes. This 2017 Bake Off title was awarded to Stocks's House.

The young Felsted bakers were lucky enough to have their bakes sampled by two highly qualified local judges. The first being Mr Steve Tittle, Pastry Chef Owner of Wood Cottage Tea Room & Patisserie in Felsted, who previously worked as a pastry chef in Knightsbridge. The Second was Mr Emile Galvin, Chef and Front of House Manager for the Galvin Green Man in Howe Street, Great Waltham.
I was delighted to see such a high standard of baking skills demonstrated by each of the teams in the making of this classic French pastry. Approached with great enthusiasm it was a joy to be a guest judge in what was a very close run contest.

The pupils should all feel very proud of themselves for what they have achieved and the effort and commitment shown throughout the competition. I would like to thank all the judges who gave up their time to offer advice to the students and give valuable feedback on their final bakes.
