Felsted School’s Speech Day took place on Friday 3rd July with Old Felstedian Telis Mistakidis (c 75-80) as the Guest of Honour. Telis is a leading business executive and shareholder at London listed Glencore PLC, where his responsibilities include the strategy, operations, trading and management of industrial non-ferrous metal assets.Telis presented the prizes to pupils and delivered an inspiring speech to Felstedians on how they can achieve success in life after Felsted.
Moving speeches were given by the Heads’ of School, Tabitha Kendrick and Alex Marka, reflecting on their enjoyable time at Felsted and the close friendships they have formed.
Dr Mike Walker, Headmaster at Felsted, who is retiring after seven years at the helm, delivered an emotional farewell speech to leavers and spoke of his gratitude towards staff, parents, OFs and pupils. He paid tribute to long serving members of Common Room, Frances Marshall and Alisdair Thomson, both of whom are retiring after many years of service. Dr Walker also expressed his delight at the appointment of his successor Chris Townsend and thanked the entire Felsted community for their support throughout his time as Headmaster.
A number of recent leavers returned to mark the retirement of Dr Walker and thoroughly enjoyed the day. The traditional Felsted Robins cricket match against the School 1st XI was played on the famous Felsted Front in beautiful sunshine, with the students winning on this occasion.
