The brand new Felsted School Boardroom, situated in the Business and Economics department was officially opened on the 12th June, by Rob Brown. Rob is an Old Felstedian, he is currently Chief Executive Officer of Aon Risk solutions - EMEA, and a member of the Aon Executive Committee.
The event was well attended by the recent winners of enterprise competitions, their parents, School Governors and invited guests including the Institute of Directors (Essex).
The concept for such a space has been on the agenda for a number of years; with the appointment in September 2014 of Director of Business and Enterprise Education, the concept has become a reality.
The space has been created as multi-functional,taking its inspiration from the 21st century learning environment. The centre piece is the oval boardroom table that can seat 18, the furniture is modular and can easily be converted into a traditional classroom layout or flipped and removed completely to be replaced with seating for visiting guest speakers. In addition there is a break out area, with casual seating, to enhance creative, higher level thinking and a write on wall!
The vision for the room is to give students the experience of a commercial boardroom, whilst providing the school with a usable working space.
