Summer is in bloom at Felsted, as Stocks’s Girls’ Boarding House held a sunflower growing competition.

First prize was awarded to Ortensia Catalano Gonzaga. Ortensia’s name derives from the Latin word for garden; this was to her advantage
as she turned out to be a natural! Second prize was awarded to Poppy Mifsud, and third prize went to Rebecca Earl.

Paul King of King and Co Tree Nursery in Rayne, winners of a RHS Chelsea Gold Medal, judged the competition. Paul commented “I was honoured to have been asked to judge the Stocks’s House sunflower competition.”

Housemistress Anna Salmon comments, “The sunflower competition provided much enjoyment for the girls and staff and it was a great talking point for visitors to the House. We hadn't realised what green fingers our girls had! A huge thank you to Paul and Teresa King for judging the competition and providing prizes and certificates to the winners. Perhaps Stocks's will be joining King and Co at Chelsea next year!"
