Sam, an Academic Scholar and Prefect participates in the Model United Nations and believes that the Gepp’s Legal Debate has helped him most in preparation for his Oxbridge interview. He also enjoys hockey and recently visited Mumbai to support the Magic Bus charity. Sam is a Weekly Boarder at Felsted, studying the International Baccalaureate Diploma. He comments, “I am delighted to receive an offer from Oxford and I would like to thank my parents and teachers most of all for all their support and encouragement.”

Aidan, a Full Boarder and Prefect practices his music whenever his schedule allows. Music was a key part of his UCAS Personal Statement. In his interview he talked about how his piano and percussion playing positively influences his academic studies. Aidan comments, “I would like to thank all my teachers, in particular Mr Allen, Mr Pathak and Miss Mallet my Tutor, for supporting me with my application.”

The boys are already sharing their experience of the process. In an Oxbridge Information Evening at Felsted Aidan and Sam had the opportunity to de-mystify the Oxbridge application process for an audience of keen Year 10-12 pupils.

Rakesh Pathak, Head of History and the School’s Senior Scholarship Co-Ordinator, commented, “With entrance to Oxbridge an increasingly competitive process, both students have done fantastically well to secure their offers. They are a credit to the School!”

Felsted offers excellent support for those applying to Oxbridge, with students attending Oxbridge style tutorials in their chosen fields and having the opportunity to practise their interview skills.

In 2014, over 80% of Felsted pupils applying to university gained either their first choice of university or their insurance choice. Popular choices in recent years have included Edinburgh, Durham and Kings London.
