Felsted Hockey Girls have made a strong start to the season, with the U13s winning a place in the IAPS National Finals, the U18s being crowned Essex Champions and the U19s proceeding to the third round of the National Independent Schools Hockey Cup.

Felsted played some of the best hockey I have seen at U13 level and it was encouraging to see the entire team working together throughout the day. I have high hopes for what they can achieve at Nationals.
Jonny Sloman, Felsted Prep Hockey Coach
Meanwhile, Felsted put on an impressive display at the U18 Essex Championships in Redbridge, recording five consecutive wins over Bancrofts (1-0), New Hall (4-0), Cooper’s Coburn (1-0), Brentwood (3-0) and Chigwell (2-0). The team was crowned Essex Champions and proceeded to the East Regional tournament where they continued their winning streak, beating Stamford (2-1), Kimbolton (1-0) and Bedford (6-0) to top their group.

After a long day the team had to put everything into the final game. Even when Haileybury equalised, the girls kept fighting and thoroughly deserved the win on penalty strokes.
Alex Went, U18 Captain
Felsted U19 girls’ cup squad had equal success for the second round match of the Smile Independent School Hockey Cup, the competition in which Felsted reached the National Final at the Olympic Park Stadium last season. Despite being 1-0 down early on, Felsted fought hard to turn this around, finally finishing with an impressive 6-2 win against Alleyn’s away to take them into the third round.
It has been an exciting couple of weeks for the team. We were lucky enough to spend two weeks touring South Africa during pre-season this year, and that has no doubt helped us start our season strongly. The team has been working really hard and are looking forward to playing against the top schools in the region at the finals day.
