Pupils, parents, Old Felstedians, governors and staff joined together to celebrate the opening of the Bathurst Garden on Saturday 6th May.
The garden is a project inspired by students’ ideas to create a social, recreational and outdoor performance area at the heart of the School. The garden is named in honour of former pupil Tom Bathurst (d1932-1937) and his wife Doreen following their recent bequest to the School. Their generosity, combined with gifts from parents of 2016 leavers, The Philipps Old Felstedian Fund and donations to the Annual Fund; helped to create a versatile area for a variety of occasions including student breaks, match teas, drama and music recitals.
The garden was officially opened by the President of the Old Felstedian Society, Sir Marcus Setchell, Head Boy Jamie Wellington and Head Girl Georgina Stevens.
Entertainment was provided by the excellent Felsted Jazz Band with their performance in the new bandstand adding a real swing to the occasion.
