Headmaster's Blog: Easter Holiday

I would like to take this opportunity to wish all of you a very good Easter holiday, a chance to recuperate, and for some a need to revise and prepare for the summer's exams. I will leave you with the words from today's final assembly that I left the school with, as they go off on their well-earned break.
"This has been a remarkable term in so many ways, and one in which you have put in so much effort in so many different areas. You should be incredibly proud to be a part of Felsted. As a school, we seek to make a difference, and we want you to have a strong sense of responsibility to the world. We want you to aspire to do the very best that you can do. We want you to value kindness, tolerance and respect above all other things, and in doing that, we expect that you will work hard to be the best person that you can be. We want you to respect and value your house, your school, your home and the world in which you live.

For some, this holiday will require hard work, and quite a lot of it. I wish you every success with that. Start early, and get in good routines. You will not regret having worked hard, and do not look for too many short cuts. Encourage others, and be supportive. If you have a friend who might find it hard to settle to work, be a good influence on them, and encourage them to do what they need to do. When you are at home, remember to be grateful for everything that your family do for you, and try to do something for them in return - be kind and be helpful to others.

When you prepare to come back, think about how you can be the very best that you can be, and how you can make the most of everything that the school offers as well, and, in what has been a difficult week in Westminster, remember the words of Fred Rogers - ‘When I was a boy and I would see scary things in the news, my mother would say to me, "Look for the helpers. You will always find people who are helping."

When things need to be done, step forward, be a helper. Be the person who is making a difference, have a very good holiday, and well done on another truly outstanding term."
