Felsted School’s Romeo and Juliet

Felsted School was transported to Fair Verona as young Felsted thespians treated family, friends and the local community to a traditional production of Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet.

The play was double cast and performed ‘in the round’ to a packed audience over four consecutive nights. In order to prepare them for the fight scenes, the young thespians were lucky enough to receive training from professional fight director, Craig Hamblyn.

The students had to overcome many challenges in the weeks leading up to the opening night, including the complex dialogue, the six possible entrances and exits and the different combinations of cast members. However, the enthusiastic applause and the huge amount of praise following each show was a great reward for all their hard work.

The transformation of the School Hall into Shakespeare's Verona was worth the visit in itself, while the quality of the performances was really exceptional.

Mr Chris Townsend, Headmaster

I am delighted with how the show turned out and so proud of the students for all their hard work.

Mrs Melanie Donaldson, Felsted's Director of Performing Arts.
