Seven hockey players from Felsted School have been selected for the England Hockey High Performance Centre Training Squads where they will take part in evening and weekend training sessions in preparation for regional matches and fixtures.
The Felsted players chosen include Beth Irvine and Affrica Hamilton, Henry Dean, Ollie Stonham, Xavier Cook, Jonny Hoile and Alex Went. Alex, who plays for the Felsted 1st XI has also been accepted into the England Hockey High Performance Assessment Camp, a further stage up in the England player pathway, after passing each of her regional assessments.
Hockey at Felsted remains consistently strong, with success at every age group for both boys and girls. Last season saw five teams compete to at least regional level and this season has already seen the U11, U13, U14 and U16 girls’ teams crowned County Champions. Both the U15 and U19 girls’ teams have also reached the National Quarter Finals of the SMILE Independent Schools Hockey Tournament to be played in the New Year.
