Felsted is delighted to announce outstanding IB results once again this year. In 2016 Felsted had its largest ever cohort taking the IB (37 students), and we are proud to report that all were successful in gaining the Diploma.
This was achieved with an average score of a fraction below 34 points. This score is better than an average score of ABB at A Level, and shows how well pupils have performed in these demanding examinations, based on an absolute world standard.
Felsted’s top scorer was Jakob Geusen from Germany, who achieved an impressive 40 points. A member of the Academic Society, Jakob is also a keen basketball, football and tennis player, who hopes to study Engineering at University after a gap year.
The IB is taken by nearly one third of the students at Felsted and a number have achieved world class scores, notably Faye Calow, who achieved the required score of 39 points to confirm her place at Trinity College, Oxford, to study English Language and Literature.
Faye, an Academic Scholar and Senior Prefect, joined Felsted as a day girl in 2011 and has fully immersed herself in all the opportunities the School has offered her. ”It is my dream to study at Oxford and I am so delighted to have been able to achieve it.”

Felsted’s top performers not only excelled academically, but also contributed to the strong co-curricular programme offered at the School. Rahel Gerrens, from Germany, who brought huge talent and commitment to the musical life of the School and Sofia Ramadoro from Italy, a keen artist, both achieved an exceptional 38 points.
Adam Sheehan achieved enough to follow his brother, Dominic, to study in the United States. Whilst at Felsted, Adam has particularly enjoyed being involved in tennis and has recently completed his Duke of Edinburgh Gold Award.

This is a tribute to the hard work of our students but also the significant hard work and commitment of our teaching staff in delivering the IB. It is also pleasing to see that a number of our most successful students have contributed widely to the School, through leadership roles, music, drama, service and sport.”
