In association with the Boarding Schools’ Association (BSA) Golden Jubilee celebration, the idea was to take over the store for one day and try to increase profits by as much as possible.

Using their business skills and some well-placed graphics kindly donated by Imaginators Ltd, the young entrepreneurs successfully attracted customers into the store with innovative ideas, such as complimentary tea and strawberries, a personal shopping service and a raffle with some top prizes that included a signed Essex Cricket bat.

The students had an early start on Saturday, but despite the weather their efforts were rewarded with customers flowing in at a steady stream. Overall, including donations on their Just Giving Page, they raised over £1300 for the charity and quadrupled the average store takings for the day.

Head of Business Studies at Felsted School, Mrs Joy McArdle commented; “It was lovely to see staff, parents and members of the BSA supporting the students in their endeavours to win the challenge.

The students conducted themselves very professionally and I was proud to see them making a difference for children less fortunate.”
